This Classroom Action Research was motivated by preliminary observations which indicated a low level of students' critical thinking skills in IPAS (Science and Social Studies) learning. This condition demands innovation in the learning process through the implementation of the Active Debate learning model. The purpose of this study is to examine the implementation of the Active Debate model in improving the IPAS learning process in each cycle and to investigate students' critical thinking skills through the application of this model. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 17 fifth-grade students of SDN 76/II Tenam, with the researcher acting as the teacher and supported by two observers. The data collection techniques used in this study were both qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative data were obtained from observation sheets of the learning process, while quantitative data were derived from critical thinking skill test results. The findings of this study show that the implementation of the Active Debate model can improve both the learning process and students' critical thinking skills. This is evidenced by the results of the teacher observation sheet, which showed an increase from 69.56% in the first cycle to 82.60% in the second cycle. Similarly, the student observation sheet showed an increase from 58.82% in the first cycle to 82.35% in the second cycle. Furthermore, the results of the critical thinking skills test also indicated improvement, rising from 47.05% in the first cycle to 82.35% in the second cycle. Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Active Debate learning model can enhance both the learning process and students' critical thinking skills in the IPAS subject for fifth-grade students at SDN 76/II Tenam.
